Coach - Matt Sanford
Matt Sanford swam with the DUCKS since he was 9 years old and has
to say that his favorite strokes were always free and fly. He swam his Freshman year at Stonewall Jackson High School
and then finished up his last three years on the Osbourn Park Swim Team. He began coaching with our winter clinics two
years ago and has come back from Old Dominion University to help coach this summer. The swimmers in Group 3 love the time
and attention he gives each one as soon as they step out of the pool after their events.
Matt's 9 year old younger brother, Seth, still swims for the Ducks.
Coach - Rachel Fuschillo
Rachel has been a member of BLST since 1994 when she was 7 years old
starting off in the winter clinic. She started coaching at age 15 when she taught group 1/2 (the kids who were too young to
swim but wanted to practice like their older siblings). She participated in winter swim for the Snowbirds and for OCCS.
She swam all four years in High School at Stonewall Jackson and was Captain her senior year. Rachel is currently a senior
at Christopher Newport University where she is majoring in Political Science with minors in History and Classical Studies.
She is a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority and Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society. Rachel plans on taking
the LSATs (Law School Admissions Test) in October, graduate in May, and begin law school next August.
Even with her hectic schedule, she always finds time to be with
her Ducks. She is the "Team Artist" as some call her since she always brings markers to draw ducks and encouraging quotes
on the younger swimmers. She is very energetic and wants everyone to have the same love for the team that she does.
Coach - Caitlin Harris
Caitlin has been a
duck since the tender age of 9. She also joined QDD the same year as Ben
Lomond, remaining there until her senior year of high school in which
she joined the Makos. Caitlin attended Sudley Elementary School before
moving to All Saints in the fourth grade. Caitlin swam for Seton High
School beginning in the eighth grade, lettering all 5 years and was a
co-captain senior year. She qualified for her high school 's State team
to the Virginia State Independent Schools championships all 5 years and
also represented Seton Swim Team by qualifying for Catholic Nationals
for 4 years. She also played on her High School softball team for 2
years and lettered. She was a member of the Foreign Language Club at
Seton High School ( 5 years of Latin!) and was also chosen to spend a
week in Richmond as an intern for the late Delegate Parrish. She was
also her senior class representative.
Caitlin worked her
Senior year of High School for Senator Colgan @ Colgan Air. Caitlin
attends George Mason University in Fairfax, VA and is an English major.
She was accepted into Alpha Lambda Delta, an honors sorority and is a
National Society of Collegiate Scholars member. She is currently on the
Dean's List. She has been a Winter Clinic coach for over 4 years,
and spent the summer of 2006 as her first year Asst. Coaching.
Coach - Tessa Reed
Tessa has recently
graduated from Paul VI Catholic High School in Fairfax, Virginia and
will be attending the University of Southern California next year. She
has been a member of the Ben Lomond Flying Ducks since 1995 and holds an
8 and under freestyle relay record. For the past three years she has
been a coach’s aid for group one and looks forward to having her own
group this year. At Paul VI she was captain of the swim team and
received the Spirit Award at the end of the season after competing in
both the Virginia Independent School States and National Catholics. She
was also an honored to become a part of both the All-State and
All-Conference teams for Cross Country while attending Paul VI. Tessa’s
other activities include the National Honor Society, Principal’s Honor
Roll-achieving above a 4.0 GPA, Student Ambassadors, Yearbook, and Life
